Early this morning, my boat and I patrolled the Sudbury River between Lee's Bridge in Lincoln and Sherman's Bridge in Wayland. When we passed Weir Hill (at left), the sun was still out but clouds moved in a short time later.
In the sky were seen a red-tailed hawk and a fast flying mute swan with its very loud wingbeat. Just before reaching Pantry Brook, these American coots were encountered...
They were unconcerned with my presence and went about their business...
This bittern was in the same neighborhood...
Between Weir Hill and Sherman's Bridge was this majestic musquash lodge...
Looks like the builder is hunkered down for the upcoming winter.
Trash was very light with most being found near the launch in Lincoln and the Sherman's Bridge area. The day's catch of 12...
There were 10 recyclable containers (4 redeemable) and 2 pieces of rubbish. YTD total = 6490
An afternoon trashpedal on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Chelmsford netted another 16 pieces of trash...
There were 12 recylable containers (3 redeemable) and 4 pieces of miscellaneous rubbish.
YTD = 6506.
Kudos to those who removed all the fallen tree limbs from this great trail. It must have required a lot of hard work!
