A Tranquil Assabet

The last job of my work week left me conveniently close to a favorite stretch of the Assabet River above Sudbury Road in Stow.  Magazu's Landing is located to the bridge's right in the opening photo (looking downriver).
While water levels are still fairly high, the current has ebbed somewhat and this allowed me to overcome the funneled flow through the narrow passage below Gleasondale.

Cloudy skies, occasional drizzle, and near calm conditions seemed to be just what these wood ducks wanted...

Musquashes were also busy as well as red-winged blackbirds.

In a backwater the remains of this catfish had me thinking an otter may have made a quick meal of it...

Upon reaching Gleasondale, my trash haul doubled in size due to aluminum cans left beached where the river had recently overflowed its banks...

Once everything was shipshape it was back downriver...
Today there were 53 recyclable containers (25 redeemable) and 54 pieces of miscellaneous rubbish which included a bicycle wheel and tire.  YTD = 2110.
