Assabet Gets Quenched
The empty McDonald's container ("Get Quenched") predicted it early in today's patrol of the Assabet River between Ice House Landing and Sudbury Road. The river was thirsty and that thirst needed to be quenched. I just happened to be on the Assabet when the deluge arrived this first mid-day in September. At least it wasn't a cold rain and, of course, it stopped as soon as my boat and I left the water.
A temporary refuge was taken under the Sudbury Road bridge...
Because this old bridge has wood supports, and rumbles with each passing car, it didn't make a good spot to listen for thunder.
Once back at Ice House Landing my trash haul looked about for dry towels...
There were 15 recyclable containers (8 redeemable) and 15 pieces of miscellaneous rubbish which included a roll of plastic wrap much of which was entwined around saplings along the riverbank...
