Nifty Nashua Launch

I've launched my kayak from all sorts of surfaces...concrete, gravel, sand, mud, and, occasionally, floating docks.  Yesterday, though, I experienced the crème de la crème of boat launches...the EZ-Launch (opening photo).

This boat launch is located on the Nashua River off Spruce St. in Devens, MA...
...and is within the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge.  A set of stairs and steps lead from the parking area to the river.

Simply enter boat while it's supported on rollers, then using railings, pull yourself to the point where you and your boat slide down into the water.  From the water it looks like this...
...and exiting the water is the same process in reverse.

This launch site provides access to a very nice stretch of the Nashua River...

From the launch one can paddle downriver a mile or so to the dam, upriver to Route 2 and beyond, or explore a little of nearby Catacoonamug Brook.

The launch site is also close to the ruins of a long-ago boathouse...
...with a majestic hearth.

Not much in the way of trash was encountered...
