The good news was November arrived yesterday bringing with it a 1 hour earlier sunrise. The bad news was the temperature at daybreak was in the mid-20s F. With bright sunshine it'd warmed to above freezing by 8:30 when I launched.
My Sunday morning objective was to visit Fairhaven Bay on the Sudbury River. I started from the Egg Rock vicinity paddling past a witch on a broomstick at the South Bridge Boathouse......appropriate for it being the morning after Halloween.
Fairhaven Hill appeared as I neared the bay...
After a hot cocoa break on Scout Island I continued upriver noting the line of sugar maples below Lee's Bridge were now leafless...The river and bay hosted a good number of fishermen...
Fairhaven Bay looking downstream...
Wildlife seen along the way included this heron...
...and this deer......and this eagle in flight...The best part of the day was not seeing a single piece of trash.
