Buds Along the River

Paddled the Assabet River in Maynard/Stow, MA earlier this week and came across this hawk amidst newly sprouted buds.  The morning was a little cool but there was ample sunshine...

Watched an airplane quickly gain altitude after taking off from the island airstrip...

The presumed eggs in the eagle nest alongside the river were being kept warm by one of the eagle pair...

The other parent perched nearby in an adjacent tree...

That makes the third occupied eagle's nest I've seen over the last 13 days.

A modest amount of trash...

...included the first "Zen WTR"  bottle I've come across.  It differs from other water bottles in stating it's "100% RECYCLED from Ocean-Bound Plastic" and that "In fact, up to 5 plastic bottles are rescued from coastal environments to make our bottle, saving them from reaching the ocean".  That all makes good sense to me.  The bottle, when new, contained one quart of water said to be alkaline with a pH of 9.5.  Full disclosure...I have no relationship with the company and have yet to drink any of their Zen WTR.
