A Sunless Sudbury

Paddled a bit of the Sudbury River yesterday launching from River Road in Wayland.  Headed upriver following the river's old route through the no longer used 4-arch stone bridge (photo to left).
The high water levels of late allowed me to continue paddling through the sticks to the main channel...
...and experiencing the river's marshy expanse...

It was good to see that tree swallows and blue herons have returned.  Now if we could just get a little sunshine we'd be all set.

Paddled past these experimental enclosures anchored in place...

The trash collected on the way down and back...
...included a few golf course eggs.
