Sudbury River Bits

Enjoyed some time on two different waterways this past week.  On Tuesday I helped chase the clouds from the Sudbury River starting at Sherman's Bridge in Wayland...
...and paddled down to Fairhaven Bay...

Along the way saw this kingfisher seemingly lost in thought...

Very little trash in this stretch of water...

Then on Wednesday I dropped into one of the Sudbury River's tributaries, Whitehall Reservoir in Hopkinton...

The waters of Whitehall were crystal-clear which must've made things easy for this fish hawk (aka osprey)...

A blue heron was also enjoying the broader perspective from up high...
...whereas this turtle had found his own happy place and wasn't moving for anything...

Encountered a little more trash here than on previous visits...

Yesterday, I returned to Sherman's Bridge and paddled upriver to Rt. 20 and back as a solid bank of clouds moved in.

A marsh hawk was patrolling the area...

Three pairs of wire enclosures, such as these, stood at water's edge...
The sign reads "Experimental Research in Progress Please Do Not Disturb" and has the New England Wild Flower Society logo.

Found an old D-Patent Coke bottle dating to the late 1930s and, not long after, a much more recent edition...
Interesting that we were once content with only 6 ounces in a bottle.

This evian bottle mentioning "the French Alps" seemed a little out of place...
...as well as someone's Happy Birthday balloon...

These items and a few other containers were joined by a "boom box" to wrap-up the week...
