The Assabet River got a long-needed drink of water this past week allowing me to be less concerned with my boat scraping bottom. The USGS gauge at Maynard showed the water level had gone from 1.5' to 2.8' after the area received more than 2 inches of rain.
I launched from Lowell Road in Concord, MA and paddled up to West Concord and back.
Cardinal flowers were in full blossom...
...along with Joe Pye weed......and some purple loosestrife having a toehold on Dove Rock...
This blue heron found a tree to blend in with...
