Kinda Like a Snow Day

Woke up on Friday morning with plans to attend a mid-morning appointment...until a 7am text told me the appointment was cancelled.  For me it was kinda like a school-aged kid gifted with a "snow day"!  Then it was a "drop-of-the-hat" paddle on the Nashua River (above photo) from Petapawag in Groton, MA.

On my way downriver I stopped briefly at the Marion Stoddart Kiosk which tells the story of Marion's decades-long advocacy for the Nashua River....

...

The kiosk also has a depiction of a Native American spearfishing at Lake Potanipo's outlet to the Nissitisset River (a tributary to the Nashua)...

It's the artwork of Mark Fountain.

Further downriver, and close to the take-out for portage around the dam, stands this crudely-built "A" Frame labeled with the inviting words  "Welcome...Sit, Relax, Enjoy"...

While I generally admire "A" Frames this one isn't the "A" Frame of my dreams.

Finally reached the dam at Babbitasset Falls (aka East Pepperell)...

On Wednesday I briefly re-visited Fairhaven Bay to see what the status of the swamped canoe was.  Found the canoe on solid ground at the Lincoln Canoe Launch...

...where it had been moved by someone, perhaps the owner?  Some of the gear was missing.

The weather this past week could not have been better...plain and simple!  I envy those who picked the week for camping.

Only a small amount of trash was encountered...
