Assabet Above Russell's Bridge

On yet another in a string of days where neither clouds nor sun could prevail, I launched onto the Assabet River at Russell's Bridge (photo at left) in Stow, MA and headed upstream to the Sudbury Road bridge.  With river levels remaining high and plants still not leafed out, trash not usually accessible could be retrieved.

Along the shore of the Gardner Hill Conservation Land, this old 55-gallon drum lurks...
It will have to wait until a later date for retrieval unless someone can get it from the shore.

Red-winged blackbirds were numerous today...

One of the brief moments where blue skies seemed to be winning...

Today's trash haul consisted of 76 of the usual suspects (bringing my YTD count to 1958)...
...and this automobile wheel and tire that was found floating in the shallow water adjacent to the gravel ramp at Russell's Bridge...

The Town of Stow Highway Department allowed me to add it to their tire pile for proper disposal.
